Scott Bergeron, founder and President at Daily Gameplan, started off his selling career on the sales floor of a top 100 auto dealership in the late 1980s. "I was extremely lucky as the organization I worked for had an intense focus on training, mentoring, and strict sales processes. But that's not always the case. In many stores, managers are stretched so thin that salespeople either sink or swim. When I transitioned into a sales training company, I was exposed to some major high end training, mentoring, and coaching programs that were being used in dozens of different industries. I watched the damage and lost profits created by the "sink or swim" mentality that still permiates the auto and other showroom related industries. The challenge isn't that companies want to burn out their people. The real problem is that most managers and owners are multi tasking so many projects that sales teams take a back seat and are left to themselves to survive. Helping salespeople by giving them the tools they need was the driving force behind Daily Gameplan. Sales is a great career and everyone should be as lucky as I was.
